Human Resources Director (m/f)

Since 1919 the AKG Group is a specialist in the field of heat transfer. Our group of companies is financially sound, innovative and expanding. With about 3,000 employees at 14 locations in Europe, America and Asia we develop and produce heat exchangers for a multitude of application areas and branches.
AKG North America, Inc. is the headquarters of the North American AKG companies. It is located in Mebane, North Carolina and responsible for overall administrative and management tasks for the whole US Group.

Job Summary

The HR Director leads the human resource strategy for AKG North America to support the overall business plan and strategic direction of the company. This position provides strategic leadership as well as oversight for execution and development activities within the factories and corporate offices. This position articulates HR needs and plans to the executive management team and ensures results are tracked and continual improvement achieved.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Leads, coordinates, and develops HR Management activities and teams of both AKG US sites (Mebane, NC, and Mitchell, SD):
    • Organizational development
    • HR policies and procedures
    • recruitment, onboarding, and retention
    • internal and external HR marketing and communication
    • employee development
    • payroll
    • wellness initiatives
    • HR compliance, legal affairs, immigration projects
    • cooperation with consultants and other service partners (f.e. insurance, pension,training)
  • Develops HR strategy and measures consistent to the strategy of AKG companies
  • Participates in personnel cost planning and controlling for American companies
  • Engages actively in personnel development (feedback, interviews, individual development plans, trainings; contact person for all departments and hierarchies) and change management
  • Is internal consultant and coach for managers regarding HR management and leadership
  • Member of US AKG Strategic Action Team
  • Representative of AKG US in global AKG HR team
  • Optional: guides and supports HR management of sister companies AKG in Mexico together with local Plant Manager and HR Manager


Job Qualifications

  • Degree in social sciences, psychology, or similar
  • SHRM Certification an advantage
  • Several years of practical experience in leading HR teams, preferably gained in a manufacturing company
  • Proved experience in management development, employee relationship
  • International experience gained by active involvement in multinational teamwork or projects, maybe even from experience abroad
  • Strong consultant skills
  • Spanish language skills an advantage
  • Willingness for business trips abroad
