EHS Engineer (m/f)

Since 1919 the AKG Group is a specialist in the field of heat transfer. Our group of companies is financially sound, innovative and expanding. With about 2.500 employees at 12 locations in Europe, the Americas and Asia we develop and produce heat exchangers for a multitude of application areas and branches.
AKG Lagos de Moreno S.A. de C.V. was incorporated in Mexico in October 2021 and belongs to the group of AKG sites of North America. Start of production will be in spring 2022. Main areas will be cooling solutions for construction, forestry, agriculture, on-highway, compressor, material handling, industrial, off-highway, and mining markets for AKG´s customers in North American countries.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The EHS engineer is responsible for creating and enforcing a culture of safety within their organizations. In addition, they also ensure that the organization complies with all health, environmental and safety regulations.

  • Ensure that company policies adhere to local, state and federal regulations
  • Train and oversee employees on health and safety regulations
  • Monitor personnel and work space
  • Always ensure the company is prepared to submit the appropriate document
  • Encourage and advocate for safer work equipment, materials and supplies
  • Track the number of incidents and produce reports
  • Monitor exposure to certain hazardous chemicals
  • Report to Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and other relevant organizations
  • Attend seminars/workshops for further education

Job Qualifications

  • Several years of experience in EHS or similar role
  • Degree in Environmental Health or relevant field
  • Good English written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform audits, write, and submit reports
  • Good time-management skills
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in a manufacturing plant EHS coordination level Safety; familiarity with accident investigation and prevention; applied ergonomics expertise, and in-depth understanding of EPA and OSHA regulations
  • Good understanding of root cause analysis for investigation of incidents
